Just kidding, we didn't go to the fair. We went to something even better!
Caleb's older brother, Levi, was getting married. And he was getting married in true southern style!
The family he was marrying into owned this lovely lake house a short drive from their farm on the edge of town. They were gracious enough to hand it over to us for the week!
The boat didn't make it, due to wedding preparations taking more time than was previously expected - but we had so much fun we didn't notice! We used the boat toys any way. This is the view from the back deck. It was cool and shady up here, and warm enough to want to jump in the lake down there. Perfection.
There's the house!
There's the kid!
Many preparations were happening up at the house, too.
Very important wedding preparations. We had to get these girls all glammed up!
The older girls decided that it would be best if we handed this job over to the professionals, so we headed into town.
Lala found this cutest little salon that we all bundled into and left feeling pretty.
Emmy had her first ever manicure, and I'm afraid she'll never be satisfied with my nail painting again.
Although, she has painted her nails at least twice since this, so maybe I'm wrong!
Pedicures happened all around as well, as they should.
Hi, Aunt Sue! It's always a party when you're around - we're so glad you came!
I'm not really a salon kind of girl, this you probably know. But every few years, things like this are fun - even for me. Especially that whole rub-your-feet part. That I could do more often.
Hot Pink! Good choice, Em.
Then we did more of this:
Because... why not?!
Don't worry they were tied off.
I think.
The girls weren't the only ones getting glammed up!
This mini man had an appointment to get fitted at the Tux Shop. You're looking at the ring bearer!
The lake was an overwhelming ammount of water, but this was totally their speed. This is one of the back decks, which we couldn't get the hose to reach to. Lala, being the awesome Grandma that she is, carried warmish buckets of water out here to fill their pool with. That may have contributed to their spending 11 hours a day in here.
Doesn't get better than that!
We also got to know some of the local wildlife.
In Utah we catch things like worms and roley-poley bugs. Sometimes a snake. In Kentucky it's turtles.
This guy was chillin' down by the lake, so the kids brought him up to chill at the house with us for a little while. After an hour (or two or three) Claire worked up the gumption to touch him.
Then they became best friends.
