Resident Artist

The Kimball Art Center, located in Park City, UT, is holding it's annual Student Art Show this month, and today we attended the opening reception.
Because we happen to have a student artist in our midst.
Also much snow, but that's a given. This is Utah, right?

The theme of this year's exhibit is "Everyday Art" which focuses on the art that we see all around us every day. The awesome teacher, Miss Jenny, has been teaching the kids about artists who not only create art that hangs on walls, but who also design "regular things" like shoes, landscapes, and silverware.

The homeschool class was invited to participate, along with all the other schools in the local area. Emmy took the invitation to heart, as I mentioned in a previous post, and her Secret Garden was born.
Ms. Jenny loved it! Emmy was tickled with the little sign with her name, grade, and 'homeschool' on it.

JoJo, Babo, and Grandma Nette happened to be driving through Park City today (on their way to Salt Lake City, which P.C. is not actually on the way to at all, so that was very nice of them) so they met us there to share in Emmy's happy moment.

Aunt Katie also joined us, because she's considered immediate family around here.

Oh, and did you know that there's usually refreshments at opening receptions for art shows? It's true. Sweet art PLUS food?! I was in heaven.

Emmy and Babo got distracted by... well, everything. He lifted her up to his over 6 feet level and she had a whole new view of the gallery.

Oh, and uh, Katie? I apologize that in the only photo I got of you in the gallery, you have a squid in front of your face. You looked so pretty today! Sorry world, stay tuned for the next time we hang out with Katie. Tomorrow.
